The case of Mumhus Begun, a former court lavouritc of flic Maharaja of Indore, is causing deep public interest, following on the alleged attempt to murder her and the actual murder, of her protector while they were fleeing from Indore to Bombay. Important personages are stated to he involved in intrigue. A report says that while the girl was in the keeping of the Maharaja of Indore she intrigued with ail officer of the latter’s household and was obliged to fly. Detectives tracked them, with the above results. The girl, who is recovering from her wounds', has been removed to the police hospital. She is being fed on specially prepared food, as attempts to poison lief are feared. A strong armed guard is stationed at the hospital to prevent any possible attempts to assassinate her.
A remarkable feature of the case is that the girl petitioned the magistrate for protection against her own mother, who. is travelling under armed guard to visit her at the hospital.
A commissioned officer of the Indore Mounted Police has been arrested for alleged complicity in the affair. Sensational revelations are anticipated. Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
