CRICKET.

AUSTRALIAN TESTS. ENGLISH PLAYER’S CRITICISM. *Y CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT Received Jan. 15, 1.25 p.m. LONDON, Jan. 14. F. S. Jackson, in an interview, stated that he thought the Australian cricket authorities ought to limit tests to five days. Matches spread over seven days and averaging 425 runs per innings were not conductive to the best interests of the game. “Australians are great experimenters,” he said, “They have experimented with the eight-ball over, which personally 1 don’t like. Why shouldn’t we experiment with the toss. I suggest a toss for the first and last games, the loser of the first toss to have the choice of the second and fourth matches.”

A touch of piquancy is lent to the suggestion by the fact that Jackson won the toss seven times in succession against Darling j„ 1905 —Aus-N.Z. Cable Assn.
