The Daily Chronicle’s aeronautical correspondent announces that one of the most remarkable structures' in the world—a steel tower 2(X> feet in height, is being erected at Ismalia, on the Egyptian desert. It will serve as an intermediate station on the airship route between London and Australia. Passengers will emerge from the airship to a platform on the tower, which is served by an electric lift. The tower is fitted with great searchlights, flashing over the desert all night. When anchored to the. mast, the airship is free to. swing in any direction. The airship R 36, when recommissioned, will go. to Ismalia in order to carry out tests with 'the tower. —Reuter.
