FLOOD DAMAGE
SETTLORS APPLY FOR RELIEF. MINISTER’S STATEMENT. (by TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION. WELLINGTON, Jan. 14. The Minister for Lands has been receiving many requests for relief from Crown and soldier settlers who have suffered by floods. From his personal observation the Minister is able to say that the great bulk of the damage was not of a permanent nature, but the grazing had been wholly, and in some cases partially. ruined for this season. The Land Board had been directed to make inquiries without delay, and. if necessary. to recommend the postponement of the payment of rent.
