OF MOTOR VEHICLES ACT

The Motor Vehicles Act has been again, commented on by the Eltham County Council, Cr. M. W. Barker, at Saturday’s meeting, stating that it was the'opinion of the Council that the Act was “stiff on the producing community.” Cr. A. Me William referred to the time when he had gone to Wellington to give evidence in connection with the Bill, and he indicated that the authorities had inferred that the provisions as they, applied to the farming community would he reconsidered. This, however, had not been done, as it Jiad been deemed inadvisable to act contrary to the wishes of the town motorists,' who. were in the majority in the country. He did not blame ter, but all the same lie agreed that it was stiff on the farmers, who in places like Omona used their cars very little.
