MAN TRIED FOR. CRIME OF WHICH NOTHING IS KNOWN.
On a charge of murdering a man for whose body the police have searched in vain for sixteen months, a timber merchant named Seznee appeared to stand his trial at Quimper, in Brittany.
Seznee has been in prison all the time that the police have been trying to trace the missing man, M. Quiemeneur, a wealthy district councillor. M. Quiemeneur vanished during a motoring trip to Paris. Seznee is also accused of having forged M. Quiemeneur’s name to document purporting to transfer some valuable land to himself. The prosecution admit that they have no idea when and where the minder was committed, or what has happened to the body. Among the evidence against Seznee during the preliminary examination was that after the crime he went io Havre and left M.'
