CLYDESDALE HORSE SOCIETY.
A meeting of the council was held at Invercargill on December 10, there being a good attendance. Before proceeding with the ordinary business, Mr P. Bellew waited on the council, and supplied further particulars regarding the pedigree of a colt for which registration is sought. The matter was deferred, pending receipt of further data. ' A letter iva.s received from the British Clydesdale Horse Society re duplicate certificates being forwarded in place of the original exnort certificates. - : ’ / ' ■ ' ''•' " : It was considered that in the case of British owner . exporting animals to New Zealand for sale the duplicate left the door open for misuse. The council decided that it could not see its way to relax the regulation requiring receipt of • the original Export certificate direct from the ' British' C.H.S. office. ' ■-•

Owing to t.fie annual meeting alternating between the North' and South Islands, the time between general meetings of members in'thither island is two years, and the opinion was expressed that this led to lack of interest among members. The distances, slowness of travel, and the consequent expense prove a great obstacle in the way, but it was resolved that it be a recommendation to devise some arrangement, if possible, by which more frequent general meetings be held. v - Tbe meeting closed with a- heart.v vote of thanks to the Southland A. and P. Association for the use of their com-mittee-room for the meeting.
