BOATING TRAGEDY.

FIVE LIVES LOST. nr CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Received Dec. 29, 2.10 p.m ' MELBOURNE, Dec. 29. Lake Nagambie, near the junction with the Goulburn River, was the scene of a shocking tragedy, when a boat containing seven members of a picnic party capsized, five being drowned. The names of. the deceased are: John Edward Mitchell, his wife •'Elizabeth, his son Edward ; also Gwendoline Emily Forrest. A southerly bfeeez made the water rather rough, and some of the party decided to alter the positions in the boat, resulting in her capsizing. Only one of the party, Ruby Ricardo, was able to swim, and slie reached the shore and gave the alarm. When helpers arrived it was found that the boat, whereto Miss Duncan (the ether member of the party saved)-had clung, had drifted ashore. Three bodies were recovered.
