At the Dawson Falls there has been about sixty hours’ continuous heavy rain and storm, and consequently communication by road was difficult. Mr Murphy reports, however, that conditions changed considerably this morning, and the rain ceased and the sun shone brightly. There were not a great number at the House over the holidays, but inquiries have been frequent and numerous, and no doubt the clearing of the weather will be followed by a large influx of visitors. The new Pacific mail'contract, which has been signed, provides for a regular fortnightly service from New Zealand, alternating between San Francisco' and F ancouver. The transpacific run is to be limited to eighteen clays, and better freight terms have been secured. The Kairanga Dairy Co. at Longburn has electrified its plant by the installation of four electric motors. An official <pf the company told a Standard reporter that the steam boiler was retained only for heating purposes, all the machinery now being electrically driven. He mentioned that the new arrangement had resulted in a considerable reduction in running costs and was in all respects eminently satisfactory. Try "Tan-oV” the liquid polish.
