MUSICAL AFTERNOON.

AT FORESTERS’ HALL. At the Foresters’. Hall a very enjoyable little function, which took the form of musical programme,• afternoon tea and presentation of prizes, was held on Saturday afternoon. A series of musical .competitions had been held by pupils of Miss Partridge, which, had been judged by Miss Moosman, and, the winner in each section‘played a solo at the hall. Prizes had been given by Mrs O’Sullivan (Ytatapu), Mrs Stratton, Mrs C. Meuli and Mrs Armitage (Manaia), and Mr E. Dixon, and/these ive re t p rese n ted ,to the winners by Miss Partridge. A large number of parents and friends were• present, and all enjoyed the afternoon. "The young performers were Misses N.." Ivilvington (“Berceuse” b.v, Chopin), B. Hooper (Grieg’s “Bridal- Procession”), S. Lew in (Ohnniimulo’s. ‘‘Moments Musionies”), avid Joan Sellar, Joyce Hicks andj B. .Thomas. Myra- Dixbn, recited “The Telegram,” ,Miss" Partridge sang “Love’s a Merchant,’.’ with accompaniment by Miss Ilia Havbittle. Mr W. Melville saiig “The Lute Player,” and with Miss 'Partridge a diiet. ’ In addition there, were' also a duet and trio on the piano by junior pupils. After a nice afternoon tea' the function closed with the singing of the National Anthem, played by Wilfred Meuli, a young performer of mile-sum-mers. The afternoon was much enjoy-* ed by all present. >
