DRUIDS’ CHRISTMAS TREE.

SUCCESSFUL ANNUAL :FUNCTION

CROWDS OF DELIGHTED .• CHILDREN.

The annual Christmas Tree function for Druids’ children was held in St. Mary’s Hall last night, and was again a distinct success. The hall presented a merry scene, there being over 200 children present, as well as a number of parents. As the children gained admission they were presented with pa'ckets of sweets and tickets to get a toy from one of the two large Christmas trees. Needless to say they thoroughly entered into the spirit of the occasion, and their eagerness to get served was wonderful to watch. The arrival of Father Christmas at the hall, was preceded by the appearance of x wo Druids in full regalia, and while the curiosity of the children was focussed on these visitors the old man with the red cloak and the long white beard slipped in. Ilis arrival was the signal for increased enthusiasm, which ran riot until the last child had received a toy. - '

The function is each year by members of/the local Druids’ Lodge, and any surplus of toys is sent to the Eltham Salvation Army Boys’ Home.
