FAREiWELLED AT SOLDIERS’ CLUB. Over 100 peopl© were ..present at the Returned Soldiers’ Club , last evening, when a farewell was. extended to [MV J. A. Cameron, who is leaving .on . transfer to Dunedin. • Mr Cameron has- for two years past "been president of--the. Returned Soldiers’. Association, and is held in the highest esteem by all. '• ' Mr H.. L. Spratt, m making ; the presentation of/'fin oak. tray,- suitably inscribed, to Mr Cameron, and a rose bowl to Mjs Cameron, referred to tlie good : services which Mr Cameron had given to the association, .and to the popularity arid liigß esteem in which l he was held. Mr Cameron had been’, a hard-working president, and had done '/ a great deal in, the interests of returned soldiers. v
Mi* Cameron replied . with a short speech, thanking Mr Spratt for his . kind expressions. Mrs Cameron' also replied- with a' neat'"speech. , During the evening /a .musieal and elocutionary programme was .rendered, those contributing' being .• Mesdames • Goodson and/Little, Miss’ Goodson and Messrs Collier and McDonald. MV A. E. Gorton, acting-president, in a happy, speech , thanked the artists j: . thp members of the .Women’s National • Reserve and ladies, of the town who had attended to the,, supper arrangements. and those who' had' contributed ' towards the - - : During the evening My H.
