KONINI ABANDONED.
(IIY iTELKCniATTT —PRESS ASSOCIATION. INVERCARGILL. Dec. 23. . The Kon ini having settled further down, the vessel was to-day abandoned after the navigating instruments had been brought ashore. ' INFANTILE PARALYSIS. WELLINGTON. Dec. 22. Infantile paralysis is still prevalent. Nine new cases have been reported; but none during the last few days. FARMER INJURED. ROTORUA. Dec. 23. A well-known farmer, Robert Shelton, of Kaharoa, wag brought to the King George V. Hospital by ambulance last night suffering from serious spinal injuries by being dragged by a horse. An operation was this afternoon, and the results are reported to he satisfactory. FISHERIES’ EXPERT APPOINTED. WELLINGTON, Dec. 24. The appointment is announced of Mr A. E. Hefford, M.Sc. (Wales) to the position of fisheries’ expert to the New Zealand Government, at a salary of £750 per annum.
