.. « : “ ■ OPERATIONS BRANCH. It is understood (says the New Zealand Times) that Mr r S. E. Fav has been appointed to manage the operations branch of the New Zealand Railways.'This cannot be confirmed, as the Minister for Railways, the Hon. J. G. Coates is out of the city. However, it is expected an announcement will not he long delayed.
Mr Fav is a son of Sir Sam Fay (one of the two commissioners), and lie has had considerable railway experience. He was for some time in charge of the operations branch of the Brazilian railways, and during the war he did good railway work on the Western front. He is a married man with, two children, and he will leave New Zealand shortly and return in time to take up duty at the beginning of the next railway year.
