JOHN, DICKSON. ; Manjr old residents will learn with regret of the death of Mr John Dickson, which occurred at his late residence, Little Waihi Road, near the racecourse, on -Sunday ; evening. - The deceased gentleman . had been a semiinvalid for three years, and his death was not quite unexpected. He came to-New; Zealand in the shin Belgravia oy years ago, and worked i*n Auckland ior a tune before going to the goldfields o the West Coast, and not being successful, he and .his mates travelled over the Alps to Christchurch, where he worked >for the ,Hon. Wm. Rolleston, was - farm manager for the late Hon. Ernest Gray. Some time dater on :he: came .to Pihama, where he engaged in dairy farming,; retiring four years ago, and . came, to' reside in Hawera. The deceased gentleman was a-man of sterling qualities, and was. beloved by all as one of nature’s gentlemen. He was an ardent lover of nature, and retained his keenness to the jast in all farming pursuits, and; his kind, - noble and generous nature endearedMmn, to. numerous old residents -South Taranaki. He leaves a widow 1 and grown-up family of six daughters and two sons to mourn the loss of a loving and- devoted husband and father. • ' -- r; :
