Received Dec: 22;L45 p.’m. : LONDON, Dec. 21. The trades union delegates who have returned from a visit t<T : Russia declined to be interviewed, pending the early issue of a joint official statement.
The Daily Telegraph points out that ’t m significant that no member of the Parliamentary Labour Party was welcomed on his return, and adds that the Trades Union Congress is perturbed at speeches made in Russia by its president (Purcell). The Congress" doe* not recognise the Third International, thus an embarrassing position has arisen. ■ Purcell, en route for home, at Berlin issued a world-wide manifesto, urging that the Working class should organise an attack, on capitalism. Thi* would be more likely to succeed than the old-time methods of compromise ana stagnation.
