“THE GREAT LIGHT.”

BY METHODIST CHOIR. The well-known cantata “The Great Light” was performed by the choir of tlie Methodist Church last night after .a shortened service. The choirmaster (Mr. 'M. Newberry), who has devoted a lot of time and energy to training the choir, is entitled to much credit for the good performance given by the choir. Excellent assistance was given by Miss DV Joll, who presided at the organ.-- The many fine choruses ivbic-h occur' in the cantata, and the choruses for ladies’ and for men’s voices, were given with good effect by the choir The solo work includes descriptive recitative' arid a number of very pretty arias.'These were taken in excellent style by Miss 0. Grind rod (alto). Mrs. Tozer (sopfano), Messrs Harvey (tenor) and G. Liddington (baritone). All acquitted themselves admirably. There was a large congreeration. and everyone appreciated the performance of the cantata.
