Won by a long neck. Time, 1.38. TRACK WORK AT ELLERSLIE. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, Dec. 20. The weather was very wintry this morning for training at Ellerslie. The outside of the course proper was available for fast work. Gala Day beat Broadwood over six furlongs in 1.204-5! Namutere beat Lady Rewa at the end of five, furlongs in 1.5 2-5. Joy Ride and Pretty man finished together in five furlongs, the last four taking 56sec. Tactician beat Surveyor in a mile in 1.47. Dan Quin alone, did six furlongs in 1.18 2-5. In a good gallop Town Bank easily beat Dazzling Light and Gauntlet over a mile in 1.45 3-5. ' Te Kara, looking well, easily- beat Muraahi at the end of a round in 2.5. Spoony and Ring the Bell went seven furlongs in 1.343-5. Polonett and Royal Present did a round in 2.4 4-5. They were picked up by Gold Fern at the last five furlongs, Polonett finishing first and Royal Present last. Gold Jacket and Capstar ran a mile and five furlongs at a good steady pace. They were joined by Narrow Neck at the last mile. Gold Jacket and Narrow Neck finished in front. Pavo did four furlongs in 51 2-ssec Right and Left. Musketoon, and Gold Light went a mile and a quarter: Right and Left and Musketoon finished on terms, well clear of Gold Light, in 2.212-5. The last round took 2.6 2.5. Gold Acre was just in front of Master Mind and Le Choucas (together), with Royal Mint and Charis, at the end of four furlongs in 52 3-5. Ilka beat Otauru over six furlongs in 1.213-5. Cool Stimulants, went once round in 2.G1-5. Charladv beat Exactly over six furlongs.in 1.22. King’s Speech went easilv for six furlongs in 1.24. Shirley, Mimetic, Star Ranger and Romantic were in that order at the bnd of five furlongs in 1.8 2-5. Marble Bell did a mile in 1.45 3-5, Far North taking 1.46 4-5. Princess Ronnie was a, shade in fron + of .Arch Ami at the end of six furlongs in 1.21. Gold Mint bent Coconnut in a halfmile in 53 4-ssec. Imnortor and Crown f~Vii n jumped four hurdles, the former nlensinoClenotim went similar obstacles satisfactorily. The nominations received by the Stratford Racing- Club are very- satisfactory, and present prospects are for good fields and interesting racing. At considerable expense the chib has improved the entrance to the racecourse, and traffic control has also received considerable attention. For patrons who will be arriving from the north by motor car provision has been made for entrance to the course via Flint road and Tybalt street. The south traffic will enter the course via Broadway, Pembroke road and the club’s private road. An extra area of land has been acquired, and in consequence there should be ample accommodation for private car patrons. A special taxi track has been constructed, and patrons using the local taxi service will be deposited on the course at a convenient distance from the turnstiles. Admission to the outside lawn at the principal entrance will be by three turnstiles, which can conveniently cone with 100 patrons per minute. Correct change, 2s gentlemen and Is ladies, will b© required at the turnstiles, two for gentlemen and one exclusively for ladies. To avoid congestion on the taxi track patrons and taxi proprietors are requested to arrange for payment and collection of fares before reaching the racecourse.
