D. \ Kilnar the school has had a most successful year. Progress .was very-mark-; ;; ed in all the standards, - the whole .of ' the sixth passing for their proficiency, ; and indeed there were no failures iii • the whole school. , : . i Mr J. R. Corrigan very kindly un- ■ dertook to give out the prizes for the ; third year in succession,: and lie appeared to enioy the event quite - as much as the children.. It was unfor-tunate--that lie was .unable to stay to ; file entertainment and tea .provided for later on.

Besides tlie usual'book prize presented to each child a number of special prizes were given. A feature of the day, and one'eagerly looker! forward to b.v the children, was the presentation of the four medals donated by Mr J. Pi. Corrigan for the best behaved, boy and the best behaved girl in the school and the hoy and girl who showed most progress during the year. This event caused great excitement, as the names of the winners were kept a close secret until the actual presentation. The winners were : Master L. Herbert and Miss M. Wood (good conduct), Master T. .McDonald and Miss H. Forbes (best progress). Special prizes were awarded to Master G. Toeker, -Misses B. Wood, M. Wood and G. Hall for neatness in school work. ~

After the prize-giving a short programme was given by the following: Masters W. Watt and T. McDonald (recitations); Misses G. Hall, E. Woods and E. Tong (songs); Miss N. M'arsh (song and dance), accompanist Miss T. Tupit.o; Miss T. Tupito (dance); Master T. Marsh (song). Tea was then partaken of. '•
