DEBT FUNDING.
AMERICAN ATTITUDE. DISCUSSIONS PROCEDING. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT WASHINGTON, Dec. 18. reported intention to discuss funding the debt with Britain lias occasioned a prediction at the Treasury that the United States Government, like Britain, would claim equal treatment. Treasury officials declared that there was no reason for a militant attitude since France’s representative lias already held a series of conferences on the question with Secretary Mellon. Since both loans were made for financing the world w’ar. officials see no reason for preferential treatment to Britain. Altogether the discussions appear to be unfruitful, although the officials are hopeful that the prospects of an allround settlement have somewhat' advanced.
