BUSINESS EXPANSION.

MR, M. KINE'iUN PARKED GILvMOrtHUiN m ejALuoin.

It is but a little over : two years since Mr. M. Kineton Daikes Came to Hawera from Dunedin and started business, in High Street, , liawefa, ' specialising in gramophones, music; and musical instruments and photographic supplies. The experience of Mr. Parkes ife that of others who. have selected Hawera as a promising field for commercial enterprise, and he is quite satisfied that he made a wise : choice. His business has grown tor such extent that ho found the premises inadequate for the proper dis*play of his stocks in the various Uepartments. To meet hje need he has 5 taken upstair premises in addition to those on the ground floor,, ‘and the extension for the' purpose of housing in fitting surroundings his large stock of gramophones and records. •The advantage of a tastefully, furnished Gramophone Saloon separated from the other branches of the business are obvious. Patrons may at their ease, and without- distraction, try out the qualities of either the instruments or the records. There is a largo selection of gramophones to suit various tastes and pockets, and the number of records and -the range of subject and performers, is. a revelation to those who have not been specifically informed thereon. It i« a matter of pride with Mr. Parkes that his stock of records is not excelled outside the four cities, and many of the city dealers could nOt offer such a range. The public will find in the saloon, 2000 records from which to make a choice. These comprise records at varying prices, but a • Special feature is made of high class . records, and it is a fact that the whole catalogue of His Master’s Voice “Celebrity” records finds place on the shelves. These particular records are of the more expensive class, ranging from 15s upwards. To name,’ haphazard, some of the most prominent artists whose entire repertoire in the “Celebrity” class is stocked, there are Galli Curci, ‘ Clialiapine, Caraso, Martinelli, John McCormack, Melba, Clara Butt, Peter Dawson, Harry .Lauder, Billy Williams, and, of course, there are hundreds of others. It should be added that an extensive range of children’s records is also carried. Though more prominence has been given in this notice to the gramophone section of,the business, it will be | found that in the other departments Mr. Parkes is no less enterprising, . and lie is in the position to give, all the. advantages that a. city house could offer to his customers. On page three, of this issue Mr. Parkes has an announcement to which the attention of all readers is directed.*
