It is authoritatively reported that the Premier declined to make any recommendation to His Government in respect to the inclusion of South African names in the New Year honours list. His view is that titles, other than academic distinctions or decorations for civil servants in recognition of outstanding* services to the State, are in conflict with the spirit of the people of South Africa and the principles of the party at present in power. ,
