TENNIS CU B DANCE. The first public: function under the auspices ot the newly termed Kuwait tennis club took place on Friday evening, when a dance was field in the hall. A large number ol local residents and, visitors from the surrounding district were in attendance ami participated in a well-balanced pro-, gramme, which established the «ooin. success of the function, Lbe proceeds from which will benefit the courts improvements fund. Pretty decorations in harmonising colours gave the hall an attractive appearance, and the music, floor and-supper appointments were of the usual good standard which have made Rowan dancers popular throughout the district. Excellent dancing, creating keen interest, was seen in the waltzing competition, the award of the judge (Air. A. Me--Bougall) being filially given to Airs. R. Mellow, partnered by Air. J. AlcCandlish. In the novelty competitions the luc-ky place at the conclusion of the spot waltz was occupied by Mrs. R. Mellow and Mr. A. Parker, and the card waltz was won by Miss Stevenson and Air. J. Satler. Appreciated dance music was provided by local ladies, and Air. H. Hard alter gave teffieient attention to the duties of M.C. The committee wish to express their appreciation of the public support accorded, and desire in particular to thank Afr. A. AlcDougs 11 for his courtesy in officiating as judge of the waltzing competition. At the inaugural meeting of the club, bold d uring the previous week, Miss K Brown was appointed bon. secretary and treasurer, and the following. with power to add. were apm'inted to (lie executive committee: Airs.
