♦ PERSONAL. (From. Our Own Correspondent.) ft, wasVwith fbelings of sinc'Cre and unanimous regret that Kakaramea learned of the retirement of Miss Silvia: Lord from the position of postmistress. Miss Lord lias occupied the position for the past year and a half, ami her unfailing tact and efti- . cieney have gained for her the friendship and esteem of the entire district, it is understood that she is departing shortly for a well-earned holiday to recuperate her health, which has been indifferent for some time. Miss Rose "Handin has taken over the duties of postmistress. ■ I understand that the head-school mistress, Miss E J). Kilmer, has resigned and will be relinquishing her position when the board can fin'd a suitable successor. ENTERTAINMENT. The members of the' ; Methodist : Church' at Kakaramea, headed by Rev. Mr. J. W. Bayliss, hold a social in the hall oii Thursday evening in aid : of the church funds. The entertainment was at .first advertised for Wednesday, but had, to be postponed owing to the inclement weather. In the •matter of attendance the evening was not a conspicuous, -success, but at least the. prograriinie presented was entirely satisfactory and deserted to be better patronised.
