YOUNG MAN’S DEATH. (BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION. , CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 15. While surfing at South New' Brighton yesterday a strong under tow carried John Patrick McMullan (24), a postal mail room employee, out to sea, despite the efforts at rescue made by other swimmers. The body has not been recovered. McMullan's parents reside at MeMaster Street, Invercargill. ; At North Beach two’ members of the Surf Club got into difficulties, but were brought ashore after a struggle during w'hich the line broke and one of the rescue party had an anxious time. He was helped ashore in an exhausted condition. rfThis is the second fatality that has occurred sit New' Brighton within the past fortnight, and it would a-npear that this ha,thing resort, is likelv to suffer so far as its popularity is concerned. 1
