SYDNEY, Nov. 27, It is not often that one finds a wife holding, the same professional degrees as her husband and partnering him in his business. Mr and Airs F. A. Walsh, of City Road, Newtown, supply the oddity. A few weeks ago they opened a pharmacy, and their possession of the shop was the sequel of a little romance. For some years was manager of the George Street West branch of Pattinson and Co., chemists. A couple of years ago Miss Dulcie Jean Chapman arrived from Cessnoek to continue pharmacy studies at the University. The firm -appointed her as apprentice, and it was part of Air Walsh’s duties to tench, her about the problems o.f chemistry. After a little while Aliss Chapman became a registered assistant, in the meantime prosecuting her university studies. Then Cupid got busy, and they .became engaged. For twelve months the two studied assiduously in order to excel in their profession. They had arranged that after marriage they wo.uld open a pharmacy, feeling thatthe unique combination would he lucrative and conducive to happiness. That year of study was also of strict selfdenial. They went to a theatre only twice or three times,, and devoted the whole of their spare time to experiment and practice. Air Walsh had attained his degrees soiine time prior to this, hut when his future wife sat for her final examination at the University she created a mild sensation by passing with very high distinction. Mr Walsh continued with Pattinson and Co. for a little longer, and a few weeks ago. having married, both commenced fortune-hunting hv opening the shoo, on the window of which is inscribed “Mr and Airs E. A. Walsh, registered chemists.”
