HISTORIC MEETING. (by telegraph—press association. ROTORUA, Dec. £. Saturday saw an historic meeting at Tamatekapua, Ohinemutu, between the Samoan faipules and representatives of the Maori race, the first recorded for a thousand years. The Arawa chiefs welcomed the Samoans with intense cordiality, to which Toclape, spokesman for 1 the Samoans, replied. Dr. Te Rangi Hiroa, for the visiting officials of the New Zealand Government, detailed the history of the Polynesian migration and the significance of the reunion. It was recognised by the Samoan and the Maori that the races were identical in customs, tradition and language, the latter only differing in form. .The Samoans wei'e shown over the district and were immensely impressed.
