TO THE DEATH
EGYPTIAN NIHILISTS. SELECTING ASSASSINS. HATRED TO THE BRITISH. [That the rumour current in Britain that the lives of the members of Baldwin’s. Cabinet are in danger appears to be well-founded is evident from the following cable message. It would appear from the statement made by the well-inform-ed correspondent of the Daily Mail at Cairo, that the only difficulty experienced by the fanatical Nationalist Party is the selection of assassins. Ministers, as well as members of the British Royal Family are being very closely guarded in the meantime.] - BY CABLE—PEESB ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. (Received Dee. 9, 10.45 a.m) LONDON, Dec. 8. The Daily Mail’s Cairo corresponded says that the Egyptian plotters find difficulty in selecting assassins for London. They are hardly likely to escape arrest, and, therefore, must not be deeply initiated into the Nationalist conspiracy, for fear of betraying important secrets.. There is a Nihilist clique attached to the Nationalist Party here. The clique holds secret meetings in >the houses of wealthy Egyptian supporters to excite themselves into political hysteria. There is also smuggled cocaine. “ Hurrah for death” is a common ejaculation at these orgies, wherein violent criminals, besides students, participate. All the Egyptian Ministers have received a circular purporting to be signed by army officers expelled from the Sudan, declaring that they intend to lead a military rising and massacre all the British in Egypt. The circular is regarded as a Nationalist forgery. Fuad, having rejected the demand of the Nationalist deputies to reassemble Parliament immediately, they are sending another petition repeating the”demand terms, denouncing Zirwar as 'a-British puppet. EGYPTIAN CONSPIRACY. CAIRO, Dec. 7. The "Egyptian Press does not treat the plot in Loridon seriously, and deprecates publication of alarmist rumours. when calm sang froid is needed. The officials at the Residency say that Viscount Allenby ’s telegram pointed out that the ‘warning'" was based on rumours that were unsubstantiated, but which could not be i» nored.
