EGMONT A. AND P. ASSN.

MEETING-OF STEWARDS. SUGGESTIONS MADE. Each, year after the show a meeting isi called at which exhibitors or oliieis connected with exhibits may meet the stewards and committee to voice y complaints or suggestions • they may have to make. On Saturday" tbeie ivere a good number present' at the meeting room, Mr Ei. A. Waslmr (piesident) being in the chair. A complaint voiced through the chairman''that tickets had in some cases not been sent to members was answered by the secretary (Mr M. C. Origiitou) that in all such cases members lmd to pay their subscriptions one. He added that, notices were sent out before the show.

Mr Hannah stated that on the first show day pigs had been put into the boxes, intended for the Clydesdale horses.—The president and Mr \V. McL’Dowie both explained that this was done solely on account of the bad weather. It was also arranged that in future more loose boxes should be allotted to this class.

In reply to a suggestion by Mr W. xmtler that each section of cattle should be numbered from one upwards, it was arranged that a sub-committee from each breed class go into the whole question and make recommendations. - The secretary said lie feared the suggestion would lead to confusion, ami would delay the work of printing. Another suggestion in this connection was a number card on each side of each animal in the ring. A proposal to cut out boys’ and girls’ calf classes met with no favour, Mr H. E. Johnson urging that they should foster rather than discourage the young people. ‘

In connection with the horse and gig classes, it was suggested that the horse entered should be the bona fide property of the exhibitor. It was also considered desirable that thoroughbreds should be judged on the second .ay, and that . extra care should be taken of foals in the ring with mature animals ; that a clear indication should be given of the weight in the spring cart horse section; that grass as well as lucerne should be provided, as some animals did not like the latter fodder; that, owing to the increasing cost of luncheon privileges, more discretion be used in the issue of luncheon tickets. Stock drive.—Mr Richardson reported that arrangements were well ahead, and it was agreed that it be held at the - encl of February; that circulars be sent out; that lif e membership be allotted to the canvasser getting the best returns; and that auctioneers be asked to .sell free of commission. Competitions.—lt was agreed that it was advisable to endeavour to secure additional attractions for the afternoons.
