Mr. W: Crawford, who/ for the past eight years has been manager of the Riverdale Dairy Go., has resigned to take a position With the Dairy Division at Patea. Mr. Crawford will enter upon his new duties early in the New Year. Wireless news was received in Dunedin yesterday of the sudden death from heart trouble of Captain C. A. Larsen, master of the Sir James Clark Ross, the mother ship of the whaling expedition now operating in the Ross Sea. Captain Larsen’s wife is at present residing at Port Chalmers.—Press Assn. The death occurred at Cambridge of Mr Hart Hicks a few days ago, at the great age of 90 years. He first went to the Waikato 40 1 years ago, and has ever show'll great interest in the progress of the district and general welfare of the community. Mr Hicks w’as horn in ‘Cornwall, and came to New' Zealand vvith his wife in the ship Mary Warren in 1864. For two years he worked for Mr Young, then Collector of Customs. He then joined his brother in Hawke’s Bay, having farms at Hastings and Clive for nine years, after which he removed to the‘Waikato.
