WAVRRLEY v. PARK. The Waverley Club were rather unfortunate’in the day selected for their visit to Hawera, as it rained heavily during Friday night, and although fairly fine next morning, rain again set in during the progress of the ina,tch against Hawera Giub. This continued, until after 2 o’clock, and it was doubtful whether any play would take place, on Park green. However, it brightened up about 2.30, and the match was commenced on a heavy gren, which one or two showers did not improve. ‘ Twenty-one heads were played,' Parle scoring a"'win' 'by-' 16 points. Mr. H. L. McGregor welcomed' the visitors in a- few well-chosen words, and at the conclusion of the match Mr. Verry, senr., returned thanks on behalf of Waverley, smilingly remarking that they hoped to turn the tables when Park visited Waverley on Boxing Day. On Saturday morning five rinks from Club paid a visit to. 'tlie Hawera Club and played'an inter-club, friendly game. Tlie weather conditions' diuing'the morning did not look too promising for howlers owing to the amount of. fain which had fallen dur- . ing the night and early hours of the morning. However, this only had the effect of somewhat, stiffening up the green, and did not necessitate the stopping of play. On arrival, the vl sitons we,re, entertained at morning tea by the local members. Before starting play ' the .president (Mr. S. Adamson) extended a cordial welcome to the Waverley players',’'arid trusted they would have a pleasant outinoMr. Verry, on behalf of the' Waverley Glub, thanked tlie local members for the kind reception they had been given, and he had not the' slightest doubt but all would have an enjoyable game. He would also like to mention how pleased the Waye.rley owlers -qould be to have a visit at an early date from the Haiwera Club. The game proved a very even contest and ended m favour of Hawera' by ' seventeen points. On Saturday afternoon the Raw era B team played their Banner fixture with the Manaia Club on the Hawera green. The weather had taken up and the afternoon turned out fine, though the green was a bit holdinoand required the players to be a little more “pushing’-’ in tlieir effort to “get up.” This did not favour the chances of the visitors, who* were down in every rink, leaving Hawera the winners'by a margin of 32 points. Mr. Adamson, welcomed the Manaia play®rs > hoped all would have an enjoyable game, though conditions were not the best from a bowler’s point of view. Mr. McDonald returned thanks ■ mai D hindnesses ' 'shown'' and would like to thank the ladies for coining forward and giving them such a nice afternoon tea, which was worthy of three cheers.
