GENERAL MEETING OF MEMBERS
A general meeting of members, of the Hawera ,W.E. A. cl ass was held in the Old Technical School last evening for the purpose, of discussing arrangements for the carrying on tlie classes next year and deciding xipori the subject to be taken. Mr. W. G. Simpson presided over a fair attendance.
Chi the motion of Mr. D. Henderson, seconded by Mr. A. J. Gyde, it was unanimously decided to organise r class in Hawera. next year. A .lengthy discussion took place regardiiig the course of study to be followed in the coming session. The District Tutor (Mr. W. A., Sheat) outlined several proposed courses of lectures for which hs was prepared to undertake classes next year, including a further, study of Economics, a course on Psychology, or one in International Relations. Members were divided in their opinions as to the most suitable course, some desiring, to continue further with the same subject as last year and others being of the opinion that one of the cither courses would appeal to a wider number of members. Finally. it was decided to. nostpone the taking of a definite decision on the matter until a further meeting to be held in a. week’s time so as to. enable those present to ascertain the views of intending members. Several other matters pertaining to the welfare of thp class were discussed. It was suggested that an effort be made to provide for several public lectures in next- year’s programme. If was decided to print a. syllabus of lectures as soon as the course was decided upon and to circulate this as widely as possible before the commencement of the session. The election of officers for the ensuing year was held over until the further meeting to be held.
