IN WATERSIDE DISPUTE. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION— COPYRIGHT (Received Dee. 5, 11.40 a.m.) MELBOURNE, Dec. 5. It is expected that a conference between the parties to the shipping dispute will result from the Arbitration Court’s intervention. The prospects of a settlement by that means are regarded as favourable. The matter was before the Arbitration Court to-day 4 writ, returnable in the High Court, was served on officials of the Watersiders’ Federation and officers of other maritime unions, who are alleged to be engaged in the conduct of an overtime strike. Application is being made in writs on behalf of oversea shipping companies for an injunction againstunions to restrain them from conductthe strike, which it is claimed is a breach of the award.
