BANK TELLER ARRESTED.
ALLEGATIONS OF THEFT. LARGE SUM INVOLVED. George Henry Martin, teller in the Bank of New South Wales at New Plymouth, was arrested yesterday afternon by Detective-Sergeant Cocney, and will be charged at the Magistrate’s Court this morning that on September 11, 1923, having received the sum of £3O from a client of the bank on terms requiring him to account for or pay the same to the Bank of New South Wales, he did fraudulently convert the same to his own use, thereby committing theft. A remand was to be asked for this morning, as it is understood further charges are pending involving a total sum of £ls{X). Accused was arrested as he was leaving the' bank yesterday afternoon. He is a married man, 30 years of age, and has been on the staff of- the Bank of New South Wales at- New Plymouth for- four years.—News. MARTIN REMANDED. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATIONNEW PLYMOUTH, Dec. 4. George Herbert Martin, bank teller, who was arrested last night, appeared before the S;M. Court this morning charged with the misappropriation of £3O in September, 1923, and was remanded until the 12th inst. Bail was allowed, self in £3OO and two sureties of £l5O each. Other charges are pending, and the total involved is said to be about £ISOO.
