MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. • of the council of this society was held at- Palmerston North during the Royal Show. Mr. J. Birtles wrote resigning his seat on the council under medical advice. It was decided that- the resignation be accepted with regret, and that ai letter be -sent, expressing appreciation of the Whole-hearted support accorded, and the Valuable Work accomplished by Mr. Birtles on behalf of the society. The following new members were elected : —Messrs. G. E. ; Conder, Hinuera; W. ID. Jenkins, Courtenay; W. J. Nix, Taulierinikail; W. Murray, Manama; A. L. Heckler, Mauriceville; J. Harris, Sanson; A. T, Burke, Loivgarth ; G. Twidle. Manaia.; L. R. Wilton, Master ton ; D. McKenzie, Masterton ; D. R,. Ward, Temuka; J. J Patterson, Manaia; B. E. Cleland, Kaponga; A. Noble, Gore; C. H S. Johnston, St. Andrews; A. Wilson Henley; G. R.. Scown, Manutahi; D; Donald, Masterton. .The proposed Stallion Bill was fully discussed, and suggestions from Otago and Canterbury A. and P. Associations considered. Some of the suggestions had already been included in the Bill, and it was agreed that it u-ould be advisable that, if possible to arrange it, the schedule of unsoundness should agree with the Victorian Act. and that reciprocal arrangements should be made for acceptance of certificates. The secretary reported -that the Wright, Stephenson Cup had been awarded, to Thomsons- Limited, Dunedin, for Scotland’s Victor (1198) ivith the same mvners’ Brilliant.shine (1524) reserve. The showed a credit of £223 7s, and the sum on depositstood at £4BO. Imports have been, as follows:—On account of Mr. A. Wilson Henley, the stallion. Marengo (20,613) -and three fillies Gauklbams Ruby (55,041) Elsie Paterson (55,042) and Minnie Park (55,043). On Mr C. McLean, Kelso, two- stallions, Scotland’s Discovery (20,820) and Archaic (20,695) and two fillies Dora Footprint (65,045) and Glen-almond Primrose (55,046). On account- of Mr. W. Holmes. Hinuera, the stallion Oraigie ( Nigel (20,283). The export and identification certificates are all in order. It was decided that the name-s - of animals which- have passed the veterinary examination for the Society’s trophies be included in the veterinary Appendix. ■ Copies-of'the Commonwealth Clydesdale Horse Society’s, lie-w circular Were laid oil the table, and favourably commented upon.
