BRITISH POLITICS.

OPENING OF PARLIAMENT

BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT

Received Dec. 3, 11.50 a.m. LONDON, Dec. 2. There has been unusual keenness among members to secure seats for today’s opening of Parliament. Two members arrived before: midnight and others during the night. Sixty-five had assembled when the doors were opened at eight o’clock in the morning. A queue was formed to prevent tlie unseemly scrimmages of previous occasions. This week’s proceedings in Parliament will. be confined to the election of the Speaker and the. swearing in of Commoners. The King will formally open Parliament on December 9. Mr. Whitley was unanimously re-elected Speaker.—Reuter.
