When the robbers: ordered Alm.eidg, to put up his hands he jumped behind a partition, seized- a bank revplver, apcl turned and faced; the men, one of Whom immediately wounding Almeida. _ After that Almeida pursued and hailed up one of.- the men. Majoif Wholley, a returned soldier and a friend of Almedia’s, came to hie assistance. He states, that he saw Almeida holding up a massive six-foot man at the point of the revolver. The man walked with his hands in frond of his, face back to the, hank. Wholley diu not know at the, time that Almeida was wounded, but when he reached the ha,nk he handed bis. revolver over to another man and asked him to keep the prisoner covered. He then collapsed. Shortly after the liold-up residents in tne locality saw a large ear- containing three men travelling towards the city? The same car was noticed .in the vicinity early in the. day.
