The officers killed are Capt. McLaren (Argylles) and Captain Tanks (Leicester's). It is understood that Za-ghlul has. obtained a passport for Europe. LONDON, Nov. 30. M 1 ’ Ramsay MacDonald, in a speech at Port. Talbot, said that Zaghlul came to him saying: “I accept nothing, not the status quo. My hand is free to pursue any policy I'like.” Mr MacDonald added that had Zaghlul accepted the status quo recent events would not have happened. Nevertheless the handling of the Egyptian affair by the present Government had greatly damaged Britain in the eyes of the world. Profqssor Berriedale Keith, in a letter to the Morning Post, 'expresses the opinion, that it would have been better if; the Egyptian demands had been formulated after full consultation with the Dominions. The difficulties of consultation . on foreign policy were very great, but the sooner they were overcome the better for the Empire. AN OFFICER’S BRAVERY. LONDON, Dec. 30. Dispatch communications have been restored with Khartoum. The situation is serious, but not critical. The. country is ringing with Huddleston’s bravery.
