RACING FATALITY. ANOTHER RIDER INJURED. (by TELEGRAPH—PRESB ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, Nov. 29. In the opening event at the Takapuna Jockey Club’s meeting a sad aceh dent occurred. The field had travelled about four furlongs when Herculean fell and Passionate and Golden Sovereign were brought down. a. J. McFlynn, the rider of Passionate, sustained a fractured pelvis and died shortly after being conveyed to the hospital. W. Bryce, the rider of Herculean, escaped with a broken collar bone. On receipt of the announcement of McFlynn’s death all/flags on the course were immediately lowered to half-mast. The stewards’held an inquiry and decided that the occurrence was purely accidental, no blame attaching to anyone. [Deceased was regarded as one of the most popular and straight-going jockeys in the Dominion. He was well, known in Taranaki, where he was engaged by several owners, notably Mr. A.. Alexander and Mr. R. Barlow, for whom Ke~rode on many occasions. He also rode Income for Mr. E. Andrews, of Otakeho, in the majority of his races. His last appearance in Taranaki was in August last, when he rode several horses at the North Taranaki Hunt Club meeting. On that occasion he rode Income (Mr. E. Andrews), Mountain Bell (Mr. F. C. Faber), Mountain Ore (Mr. R. Fairweather), and Lady Ristori (Mr. W. ! D. Graham). The deep sympathy of racegoers and others will be extended to his widow and family.]
