Mr. Thomas Reginald Clay, a wealthy Liverpool manufacturer, left £lO,000 and a car to Harry Evans, his chauffeur who was completely surprised. He also left £15,000 to his doctor and £IO,OOO each to the manager and under-manager of his bank. HOUSES IN BRITAIN; LONDON, Nov, 28. The Minister for Health, (Mr. Neville Chamberlain, addressing Conserve tive women at London, said the Government did not intend to repeal the Housing Art put through by Mr. J. Wheatley (Minister for Health in the Labour Government), but preferred to let the Act hang itself with its own rope.

He .said the problem might be solved speedily by having houses produced in enormous n timbers out of hew materials in factories, free from interruption by weather. Sample houses will be built throughout the country ,so that women can judge the result. He mentioned that a scheme for the erection of steel houses was recently advocated by Lord Weir.
