COUNTRY CLUBS’ POSITION. PRESSING CLAIMS. MINISTER, TO' INVESTIGATE.. (BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION. ’ ' i ; WELLINGTON, Nov. 27. “I do not propose to submit to the Government my recommendation for the allocation of additional totalisator permits until I have had an opportunity of. seeing the equipment - of the courses of some of the country clubs in the North and South Islands,’’ remarked the Hon. R, F. Bollard (Minister for Internal Affairs) to-day, prior to leaving for the north.
“There are only twelve racing and 19 trotting permits provided by the Gaming Apt;” continued Mr. Bollard, ‘felt already I have received over 37 applications for the racing permits available, covering 45 days, and for the trotting days available 35 trotting clubs have made applications, covering 44 days. There have been some pressing claims made by one or two clubs, and all will receive the fullest consideration before a. pronouncement is made. I do not expect, in view of the many matters to be considered, that a decision will be come to until the end of the year or the beginning of the new year.” -
