HAWERA BAND.
PROSPECTS BRIGHT; ENTHUSIASTIC SUPPORT. GOOD WORK BY BANDSMEN. , \ . . Matters in connection with the Hawera Municipal Band are progressing very well, and there is every indication that within a few weeks Hawera will possess a first-class band. Lieut. Fox the newlv-appointed bandmaster, will arrive in Hawera on Monday, and will meet the bandsmen and the band committee in the evening, when he desires to address the bandsmen; The latter have shown great enthusiasm and have formed working bees, which have done splendid work in thoroughly renovating the hand room inside, and erected mecessarv par-. titions, etc. The keenness of the bandsmen is an indication that they for their part will,.do all they can to establish a first-class band. - _ Meantime the committee has been working hard and .lias met with great success in its canvass of the town, citizens responding generously to the appeal for funds. Only part of the town has been canvassed so far, but the committee are gratified, at the fine response and the feeling of the people, which is unanimously in favour of building up a good band.
