MANAIA.

: —+■ - . • (From Our Own Correspondent.) ANGLICAN SALE OF WORK. The annual sale of work held in the Manaia Town Hall in aid of St. Cuthbert’s Church on Wednesday afternoon and evening was a success in spite of the inclemency of the leather in the evening. In the afternoon good business was done by the various stallholders. A splendid yariety of goods was placed on each stall, and each was very artistically decorated. The sale of work would undoubtedly have been a huge success only for the heavy downpour of rain commencing ait 7 o clock and continuing right through the evening, which stopped many who would have liked to be present. During the evening many (Competitions were got off, and vocal items were given, bv Mrs F. Freeman, Miss Stevenson and; Master Davis, which were much appreciated. Orchestral . items were given during the evening, the orchestra consisting of Miss M. Long (piano), Messrs Lloyd and Matheson (violins), and Mr J. Cosgrove (cornet), which were also much appreciated. Great credit is due to the energetic secretary (Mrs T. Sutherland) for the efficient manner in which she carried out her many duties, having all details complete.
