• - SERIOUS ASSAULTS. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION. NAPIER,, Nov. 26'. Thomas Leonard Jordan, a trimmer on the Waikawa, w.as found guilty in the Supreme Court so-day of assaulting on the high seas Robert Johnson, a fireman, so as to cause him actual bodily harm. As a result of the assault Johnson lias had to have an eye removed, the operation being performed in the Napier hospital yesterday. Accused was remanded for sentence. George Edgar Casey amd David Davis were found guilty of assaulting Andrew Paxie, a restaurant proprietor, and ca.ii,sing him actual bodily harm. The charge was the outcome of a disturbance at Baxie’s restaurant, which the accused men attempted to leave after having a meal without paying. Paxie’s right eye had to be removed as a result of the injuries caused by a blow from Davis. Casey was recommended for mercy, and both were remanded for sentence. Allan John Davidson, eventually pleaded guilty at the judge’s suggestion to forging his wife's name to a guarantee, and the jury recommended him to mercy. Accused was admitted to probation for two years and ordered to make restitution.
