COMMUNIST EVICTED.
/ SCENES ON THE CLYDE. POLICE ATTACKED. BY CABLE—PEESS ASSOCIATION—COPY EIGHT LONDON, Nov. 25. There were wild scenes in Cambuslang> near Glasgow, oil the occasion of the eviction of a prominent Communist. The sheriff’s officers and the police forced an entrance to the house, but were met by a fusillade of missiles and drenched with water. Two Communists were arrested. The occupants put up a bold fight, and there was a considerable demonstration against the police after the arrests. A crowd of several thousands menaced the police headquarters at Cambuslang till late at night. Then, learning that the arrested men had been removed to Hamilton, they went to the property-owner’s house and made demonstration, but did not indulge m any violence. .The Clydebank Town Council decided, by one. vote, not to support a recommendation that the tenants be urged to meet their obligations. It is expected that evictions on a large scale will follow.
