G. Dickie. E Dixon and W. A. Collins addressed the conference of delegates and answcud questions, after which a su-ret ballot was taken, resulting in Mr H. G. Dickie being; the selected candidate. On the result Debig announced the unsuccessful candidates were the first to congratulate Mr Dickie and assure him of their heartiest support. The meeting dispersed after giving three eheres for Mr Dickie, paying the same compliment to the unsuccessful candidates, and. also three cheers with prolonged applause to the Rt. Hon. W. F. We learn that' after the result of . the ballot was made known Mr Dickie informed the meeting that it was his intention to take up permanent residence m Hawera.
