BUTTER PRICES
MARKET QUIET.
DECLINE IN VIEW.
PROSPECTS AHEAD. [While the prices of wool are soaring it would appear that butter producers are not to share in this prosperity. The most that London importers hope for, as will be seen by the following cable received by the Hawera Star to-day, is that the values, which have declined, will be maintained.] BY CABLE—PEES? ASSOCIATION —COPY EIGHT. Received Nov. 24, 11.10 a.m. LONDON, Nov. 23. The butter market remains quiet, but a recent decline in values has enabled retailers to lower prices, and tlie result has been a satisfactory increase in consumptive demand. As',tlie quantities due to arrive in tlie near future are not excessive, importers are hoping to maintain present values for the next week or two. ..
The Kangaroo brand has now been on the market for a fortnight, but has not aroused much enthusiasm, and Tooley Street does not report any considerable inquiry for it. Incidentally it may be mentioned that the brand on the boxes is very inconspicuous. In some cases the branding is so badly done that the kangaroo is invisible. All that -can be seen is a portion of the surrounding circle.
