(From Our Own Correspondent.) TOWN BOARD. At the ordinary monthly meeting there were present: Commissioners C. J. Preston (chairman) T. Lloyd C Goad, A. Hill, and P, Leydon ’ Mr. Hiirlimah wrote drawing the boards attention to the fact that a resident’s fence ivas encroaching several feet on the roadway.—-It was resolved that no action be taken in "the- matter. It was resolved that the clerk he instructed to write to Mrs. Free'informing her that the lfoard cannot lease her a portion of Weld Street. On the motion of Crs. Goad and 1 restoii it ivas decided to ask the Valuation Department for a revaluation of the town district. It was decided to procure enough shingle and tar to patch the main road On the motion fo Cr. Lloyd, seconder ttt Goad, it was resolved that the Works Committee go into the matter of reconstructing the main roads and report at a special meeting to be held in a fortnight’s time. It was resolved that the chairman see the board s foreman, who is ;•+ present in the hospital, and ascertain whether he is likely to he able to resume duty. The matter of erecting another light at the corner• of Hunter and Fitzroy streets was discussed at some length, and it was resolved to leave the matter in the hands, of the chairman with power to act. ’ Accounts to the amount of £3l 14s 4d were passed for payment and the meeting adjourned. horticultural society. A meeting of the above society is be held on Monday night, and it is hoped a full attendance will be present as some important business will be transacted.
