OVERTIME QUESTION. (by TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION. 1 WELLINGTON, Nov. 22. The Arbitration Court refused to grant any exemption from the closing hour provisions of the shop assistants’ award for Christmas on the ground that it could not discriminate between large and small shops in congested areas. Tlie v Court also had before it a demand that w-orkers be paid overtime for travelling to work in the suburbs. It appeared that a clause to this effect was inserted in the new award, but did not say what rates should be paid. In opposition it was contended- that this was a claim for overtime ■when men were not working. Mr Justice Frazer reserved liis decision, but said he was pretty certain in his own mind that it whs not a case for overtime:
