CHARGE OF ASSAULT.
ACCUSED SENT FOR TRIAL. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, Nov. 20. At the Police Court to-day, Ernest John Bras ting, aged 26,, a motor, mechanic, was charged with having assaulted Albert Welch at the Bucklands beach on October 5 so as to cause actual bodily harm. ‘ 7 Complainant said lie was Invited into a.house by a.woman acquaintance, and there met other men He had taken two bottles‘of : whisky frorii which tlie party, drank. Accused’ subsequently hit him as he was sitting in a chair, fracturing liis jaw. ■ ■ ■: Accused,- in evidence,- said he objected to Welch’s attitude towards, a woman to whom accused was engaged.. Welch tried to hit and then kick him, and in self-defence accused struck Welch. Accused pleaded not guilty and reserved his defence.. He was committed for trial. - • ‘ •
